1st Ferry Ride!

Caleb's pre-school classroom had planned a field trip to Coronado to play at the beach and then take a ride on the ferry. I was a little concerned since I have never taken Caleb on a boat and he is a wuss when it comes to rides or anything in motion. I took him anyways just to test the waters. When we first arrived we met with some of the parents and their kids and had a picnic:



After lunch we let the kids get in the water and have some fun! At first Caleb was timid with getting wet until he saw the other kids splashing away and soon enough his shirt came off and he was right there with them!







Caleb came across some seaweed and that became his obsession. He kept bringing me seaweed left and right and wanting to collect it all. I had to tell him no because seaweed stinks and what are we going to do with a bunch of seaweed. Lol.





After about an hour of play it was time to get dressed and head to the ferry! This was the scary part. I had to buy the tickets not knowing whether or not he would be ok with this ride so I just went ahead and bought them in hopes he would be ok. And thank God he was great! He had so much fun on the ferry that he was upset when we had to get off!






I was so proud of my Caleb for coming out of his shell and getting on the ferry with his friends. He has come a long way and more and more he proves that he can do anything and everything that anyone else is doing. :) So in the end the field trip was a success! We went home and watched his new favorite movie, Alice In Wonderland...the Tim Burton version. Lol.

Old Town

Caleb and I planned a day to visit my sister Terry in Oceanside and watch Toy Story 3. We were supposed to take the Coaster up and hang out at like around noon. Well...she told me the wrong time and we missed the train. Since Caleb and I were already at Old Town...I figured we might as well take advantage of being there and walk around. So we did. The first thing we saw was a cow. A cow in Old Town? Kind of funny so we checked him out. Caleb loved the cow and didn't want to leave his side...or hers.





After the cow I wanted to check out some of the shops so we headed to the little area where Casa De Pico used to be. Of course Caleb had to stop by the fountain and take a picture. I don't know why but he has a thing for fountains. Lol.



As we walked into the shop area, I noticed a show going on. They had mexican dancers performing on stage and I noticed Caleb taking an interest so we sat and watched the show. I figured...why not...we weren't going anywhere for a while anyways.




The show was really nice and when it was over we checked out the different shops including Gepetto's workshop which Caleb could not seem to leave. I was getting hungry so I forced him out and we walked to a restaurant close by. It used to be called The Jolly Roger but now it's called Barra Barra?




The food was excellent and it was really nice just to sit with Caleb and enjoy the scene. Afterwards he headed to a little museum house and sat in the yard and waited until the next Coaster came so that we could go see Terry and watch the movie. Caleb had a good time pretending to make dinner for us and playing with the leaves.








Finally it was time to get on the train and head up to see Toy Story 3! I've never been on a train before so I was extra excited. Caleb has been on with my sister before so he made sure I wasn't afraid. :) My beautiful little love!

Dinosaurs!

So the dinosaurs came to town at the San Diego Natural History museum at Balboa Park and Caleb had already went with daddy but momma wanted to check it out too so we went again. Lol. Caleb was my little tour guide since he already went. Before entering the museum I thought it would be nice to have a lunch picnic by the fountain. I packed a sandwich with some chips and a granola bar so we quickly ate before checking out the dinosaurs.




When we first got in Caleb wanted his picture taken with the falcon or eagle..or whatever that bird was so here it is:




Right behind me was a great white shark which kind of frightened me a bit. I wasn't expecting that as I turned around to go into the museum...



The museum was pretty cool. Dinosaurs and other creatures were everywhere. A lot of interactive things as well. I tried to teach Caleb about the animals but realized daddy is much better at that than me so I stopped trying and just enjoyed the museum like a kid. There were so many giant statues of creatures that Caleb really liked playing with.






Except for this guy....Caleb wasn't a fan of this one. He covered his ears when we walked passed it. This guy moves and roars when you walk by. Lol.



The museum was showing free movies and one of them was a 3D Dinosaur film so Caleb and I checked it out. It was a little scary but Caleb was brave and throughout the entire movie he kept taking off and putting on his glasses...I think he was scared and wanted to see it in 3D but then when it got too close for comfort he would take them off to find that it wasn't really there after all. After the movie we decided to take a break until the next movie which was Ocean Oasis. So we ventured outside and walked around the park. We checked out the flower exhibit and Caleb decided he wanted to smell all of the pretty flowers. :)




I suggested going to look at the little train and Caleb became curious. "What train momma? Does it have a tunnel?" I showed him the train and the little tunnel it goes through and he says "That's ok momma...I can ride the train now...I'm not scared." I didn't expect to ride it but since he usually hates rides I thought this was a perfect opportunity to ease him into them. So we got on the train!





Caleb had such a good time he wanted to go again but the movie was about to start so we had to head back. I'm just happy he isn't afraid of the train anymore because he used to hate it when he was little. Progress for sure! So we watched the movie which was all about Baja California and the sealife in the Oasis. Caleb absolutely loved this movie and he was very serious when watching this as if he was actually trying to retain the information being talked about. Lol. We had such a good time like always and this is one day that both of us will never forget!

Happy Birthday Lisa!

Lisa turned 30 on July 25th but we decided to throw her a surprise bday dinner on Friday July 23rd. I made reservations at Cafe Coyote in Old Town for the 8 of us...Char..Tita Tabs..Mymy...me..Caleb...Wesley...Mike...and of course Lisa. I told the crew to be there by 7 and Mike would pretend that her and him were having dinner alone and would be there by 7:15ish. Everything was good to go except....when I got there the table wasn't ready and it was 7:15! When I was finally took back to set up the balloons and cupcakes...the hostess realized she had seated me in the wrong area! So as we were gathering everything to move..I look back and I see Lisa! Oh no! And the rest of the crew wasn't even there yet! Panick set in and I grabbed Caleb and ducked through the crowd. Luckily we weren't seen. So then I texted the crew like crazy telling them to get their butts over here fast and all of a sudden they say they are right next to her! So the manager told me of a secret way in the back that they quickly escaped to. Phew...safe. Well then I guess Lisa was getting cranky and started getting impatient. The manager told the front desk to just keep stalling and tell them that the table was given away. The crew made it and so we were all set...bring in the birthday girl! Lisa finally came in and we all yelled: SURPRISE! She looked a little scared but was relieved when she found out what was going on. Man..so hard to keep a surprise! But it all worked out and we had a great time eating good food and chit chatting. Caleb especially had a good time with Mymy and the food! Happy Birthday Lisa!
